The Valley - a ZX81 game

A conversion of The Valley by my elder brother in 1982

Instructions:

You are the + symbol
Movement Keys are all around the W

Get your Right Hand fingers ready on L B and H (and later in the game perhaps S ? )

There are two phases to combat:

Defend - by parrying a blow against your Legs, Body or Head
Attack - using the same keys

S and a number key casts spells if you have them.

My bro was rather good at his own game so I found it bit too hard as a young one and I still do now!

There is a bug in line 363 as it has read off WinTape

363 should be S + SD NOT S + KD

Please could any kind ZXer fix this and upload me a new P file - Im a bit rusty.

Also for some reason testing using VB81 if I leave the keyboard alone a long time without moving then I get a crash!

I dont remember this being a problem at all, perhaps there is another problem in there somewhere.

The game is pretty great I reckon :) well done BRO!

Its great to be able to bring them out of the boxes after all these years, I recovered the programs ten years ago just for The Bros
but never thought about ZX stuff till I saw the rest of your (kicking) site.

S is spells and I seem to remember choose 1 - ?number and later theres amulets or something, I was always impressed with how you were able to go into the castle.

He was 14 at the time he wrote these programs and he pursued high level languages and simulation work, I was 11 and interested in bending the machine to my will through machine code and Hires routines, I ended up being an electronics engineer.

Volver a “Sinclair ZX80/81”
